The annual Black Forest Festival, sponsored each year by the Black Forest Community Club, will be Saturday, August 15th, 2015. This highly successful community event draws crowds, not only from the Black Forest, but the greater Colorado Springs area.
Starting at 6:30am with the traditional pancake breakfast prepared by R&R Coffee Cafe, the festival will hold its parade at 10:30am. Jon Karroll, our favorite news anchor at KRDO TV, channel 13, will be the parade announcer.
The 2015 Black Forest Festival theme is “Black Forest Treasures – Past and Present”. Our festival will have a new look this year so that we can highlight our Black Forest heritage and the newly landscaped Log School Park.
New features for 2015 include: local restaurant chefs for both breakfast and lunch, alpaca and mini horse display and obstacle course, demonstrations by local artists and craftsmen, old fashioned competitions, and a formal Dedication Ceremony for the Black Forest Fire Memorial.”
Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper will be the featured speaker at the Dedication Ceremony.
Also featured will be members of the Air Force Academy Band, Wild Blue Country.
There will be games for the kids and many other surprises. The festival runs until 3:00pm.
If you are interested in being in the parade, please email Bob Erler at bfparade2015@aol.com
“We hope this will be our best biggest festival yet,”
said Eddie Bracken, Chairman of the Black Forest
Festival, “We have something for the whole family.
Our theme is ‘Everyone in the Forest is Family and
that goes for our guests as well.”
Fair featuring commercial and neighborhood sellers,
food booths, games for the kids and many other
surprises. The festival runs until 3:00pm.
To ease the parking and traffic situation, shuttle
service will be available for off-site parking coming
into the forest.
